At Assure UK we want to help you understand what Cyber Essentials is and the value it can bring you and your organisation.
Firstly, you might be thinking what is Cyber Essentials? Cyber Essentials is a Government backed scheme which will help you to protect and prevent your organisation against around 80% of cyber threats and attacks and expresses your dedication to cyber security to the wider community.
Cyber Essentials is available through two levels of certification:
Cyber Essentials – A self-assessment option providing you a peace of mind that IT defences in place within your organisation will be protective against the majority of attacks as these are looking to target those which do not implement the preventative Cyber Essential technical controls. This certification provides assurance and knowledge on how to tackle and counteract these attacks.
Cyber Essentials Plus – This is essentially the same as the above certification, however a hands-on technical assessment and verification are provided for that additional assurance of controls in place.
Why should you get your Cyber Essentials and what value does this bring to your organisation?
Obtaining your Cyber Essentials verification provides your customers that extra reassurance that you are working to secure your IT systems against cyber-attacks. GDPR is a hot subject, therefore ensuring your security measures in place meet regulated requirements gives your customers confidence that their data is secure with you.
Not only does Cyber Essentials provide you comfort on your IT security, but it is also attractive to new potential business, providing that promise that your systems are secure against potential threats and malicious attacks.
What security do you actually have in place?
Cyber Essentials makes you take the time to review the safety measures already in place and complete an evaluation of your systems and protection. This critical assessment allows a gap analysis to be performed and enhance the IT security posture in your organisation.
